Territory and production
The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is an absolutely elite production. It is obtained from grapes grown exclusively in the Municipality of Montepulciano, in the heart of the Siena’s hills: they articulate harmoniously between Val di Chiana and Val d’Orcia, not exceeding 580 meters above sea level. The particular conformation of the territory and the Tuscan microclimate give this wine unique organoleptic qualities. The vines used to produce Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are Sangiovese, or rather its Tuscan version, namely Prugnolo Gentile, and a small percentage of Canaiolo Nero, which will never exceed 20% of the total. To these vines, one can also add a small quantity of Tuscan grapes always grown in the same production area. This precious and noble wine, obtained the Denomination of Protection in the 1980 and can only be produced in a restricted area of Tuscany.
Features
The color that stands out in the glass is a brilliant characteristic ruby red, which turns into garnet red progressively as the wine ages. On the nose the scent of this wine is elegant and intense and recalls notes of red fruits, prunes and floral and tobacco notes. The bouquet is intense and you can also perceive cherries, violets and earthy notes. In the mouth the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is particularly balanced and ample, with a persistent aroma with hints of wood that recall its aging in cask.
Wine maker notes by Pierluigi Giachi Tenuta Torciano
The Nobile di Montepulciano Torciano fruit of Prugnolo ‘s best vineyard, is full-bodied, complex and elegant. Intense and refined fragrances, with plenty of ripe fruits and hints of violets. Fine silky tannins and a long and rich finish. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Torciano shows some tertiary definition with dried fruit, prune, tar and smoke. This is an elegantly streamlined and polished expression that offers lots of Sangiovese typicity. Wet earth and moist tobacco play an important role, aromatically speaking.
The result is our Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, structured, long-lived with intense aromas that faithfully represents its Tuscan origins and the ancient link between earth, man and culture.
Blend: 85% Prugnolo Gentile, 15% Colorino, Canaiolo and Merlot.
